Welcome to this month's podcast series on NORTHERN IRELAND, a collaboration between ChromeRadio and the HANDA CENTRE FOR THE STUDY OF TERRORISM AND POLITICAL VIOLENCE, UNIVERSITY OF ST ANDREWS. April 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the 'Good Friday' Agreement, the historic peace deal that ended nearly 30 years of conflict, a period known as the 'Troubles', in Northern Ireland. In our first podcast, ROOTS, DR TIM WILSON, Director of the HANDA CENTRE FOR THE STUDY OF TERRORISM AND POLITICAL VIOLENCE at the UNIVERSITY OF ST ANDREWS, takes us from the plantation of Ulster in the 17th century to the suspension of Home Rule during the First World War. PRODUCTION | ChromeRadio in partnership with the HANDA CENTRE FOR THE STUDY OF TERRORISM AND POLITICAL VIOLENCE, UNIVERSITY OF ST ANDREWS | Producer - Catriona Oliphant | Post-production - Chris Sharp.
