In THE BATTLE OF AMIENS AND THE FIRST WORLD WAR, SIR HEW STRACHAN, Professor of International Relations, University of St Andrews, considers the Battle of Amiens in August 1918 in the context of the First World War as a whole, and how three commanders - Haig, Rawlinson, and Foch - all of whom had experienced failure as well as success in the earlier years of the War, were to come together at the Battle of Amiens to great effect.
